Roughtake ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your username, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). You may optionally provide a profile photo and bio.

Content You Post

We collect and store the videos, ratings, follows, and other content you submit through the Service. Videos and images are stored on AWS S3.

Usage Information

We may collect information about how you interact with the Service, including features used and actions taken (such as rating a film or following another user).

Device Information

We may collect device identifiers, operating system version, and app version to help diagnose issues and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
To display your content to other users
To send transactional emails (e.g., password resets)
To process subscription payments via the App Store or Google Play
To show advertisements served by Google Mobile Ads
To enforce our community guidelines and terms of service
To respond to your support requests

3. Advertising

We use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertisements within the app. Google may use device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized ads. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Roughtake offers optional in-app subscriptions. All payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive or store your payment card details. Subscription management and cancellation are done through your device's app store settings.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

With service providers — AWS (cloud storage and compute) and Google (advertising and analytics) who process data on our behalf
With other users — your public profile, posted videos, and ratings are visible to other users of the Service
For legal reasons — when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Roughtake or others

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your profile, videos, ratings, follows, and associated data within 30 days.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Access and correction — you can view and update your profile information inside the app
Account deletion — you can delete your account from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Profile) or by submitting a request at roughtake.app/delete-account
Advertising opt-out — you can limit ad tracking in your iOS or Android device settings

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for data in transit and hashed password storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
